The Global Village concept is based upon the experiences and
succesfull results of a national project called "Den Globale Landsby".
The national project was aimed at teachers and apprentices in vocational education within
mechanical manufacture. In that project, 4 technical schools co-operated in design and
production at a geographical distance. Communication and application sharing between
teachers and apprentices went through the use of IT-tools, i.e. e-mailing, internet, and
